Good to know

❄️ The hire package includes an Evo 4 avalanche transceiver, a shovel and a probe, at a rate of €25 per day. The Evo 4 is a digital avalanche transceiver with three antennas, designed to locate people buried in an avalanche. It is essential to know how to use the avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe before venturing into this type of terrain.

🧭 On request, the Takamaka team can explain how the avalanche transceiver works when you collect it, to help you get to grips with the device. However, this demonstration is no substitute for avalanche training or learning search and rescue techniques.

📅 Equipment hire is available from Monday to Friday: 9 am–12 noon / 2 pm–6 pm, with collection from Takamaka Grenoble, 1 quai de Créqui, 38000 Grenoble.

💳 Please bring a form of ID, which will be requested and scanned for the deposit.

An avalanche transceiver is the general type of rescue device. ARVA is a brand name that is commonly used in France as a generic term. The rented ARVA Evo 4 is a digital avalanche transceiver.

Can Takamaka explain how the beacon works ?

Yes. On request when collecting the equipment, the team can explain how to operate the ARVA Evo 4 and show you its main functions. This is an equipment introduction and does not replace proper avalanche rescue training.
