FAQ
Which brand of mountaineering boots is supplied ?
The rental boots are made by Simond. The current page describes them as robust and waterproof, with a Vibram mountaineering sole.
Which sizes are available ?
Boots are available from EU size 37 to 44. As stock varies, we strongly recommend calling Takamaka Grenoble on 04 80 42 00 70 before booking to confirm your size.
Are the boots compatible with crampons ?
Yes. They are compatible with semi-automatic crampons, particularly for glacier walking. It is still important to check that they are compatible with your pair of crampons before setting off.
Are crampons included with the boots?
No. The €20 rental covers one pair of mountaineering boots only. Crampons must be rented or supplied separately.
How should I choose the right mountaineering boot size ?
Try the boots on with the socks you plan to wear in the mountains. Your foot should be held securely without excessive pressure, and your toes should not hit the front of the boot on descents.
