Description

Prepare for your next frozen route with an ice climbing axe pair rental in Grenoble for €25.

🧊 The Climbing Technology North Couloir tools are designed for technical ice climbing and routes requiring precise placements, secure hooking and efficient movement.

⛏️ A practical way to complete your setup before heading to ice climbs across Isère and the French Alps.

Good to know

🧊 The rental includes one pair of Climbing Technology North Couloir ice tools for €25 per day. The tools are available in one size and are specifically intended for ice climbing and technical movement on frozen terrain. Unlike a glacier hiking ice axe or a more versatile couloir tool, these are designed to be used in traction, with one tool in each hand. They are intended for users who already know the techniques required for ice-tool placements, traction and progression on frozen waterfalls. Equipment rental does not replace proper technical training or professional guiding when your experience or the route difficulty requires it. The rental covers the pair of ice tools only: crampons, mountaineering boots, helmet, harness, ropes and other equipment are not included.

📅 Rental collection is available Monday to Friday: 9 am–12 noon / 2 pm–6 pm, from Takamaka Grenoble at 1 Quai de Créqui, 38000 Grenoble.

💳 Bring a valid ID, which will be requested and scanned for the security deposit.

🏔️ Weekend rental: book your equipment for Friday.

💶 Weekend offer: pay for just one rental day, meaning €25, and collect your equipment before 6 pm on Friday.

↩️ Weekend return: during the day on Monday. Before departure, make sure the tools match your experience, the difficulty of the route and the current ice conditions.

Why choose Takamaka ?

🧊 Renting a pair of technical ice tools from Takamaka Grenoble gives you access to equipment specifically designed for ice climbing, without immediately investing in your own specialist pair. The Climbing Technology North Couloir tools are built for traction climbing and provide one dedicated tool for each hand, clearly distinguishing them from glacier hiking or couloir ice axes.

⛏️ The team can help you check that this pair matches your activity and objective before departure. This practical knowledge of ice-climbing and technical mountaineering equipment is backed by 30 years of Takamaka experience in outdoor and Alpine activities.

FAQ

Does the rental include one or two ice axes ?

The rental includes one pair, meaning two technical ice tools, one for each hand.

Which model is supplied ?

The rental pair is the Climbing Technology North Couloir, designed specifically for ice climbing and technical traction movement.

How are these different from a glacier hiking ice axe ?

A glacier hiking ice axe is primarily designed for walking and classic glacier travel. North Couloir tools are technical traction axes intended to be used as a pair on steeper, more demanding frozen terrain.

Are these ice tools suitable for beginners ?

They are primarily intended for users who already understand ice-tool placements and traction techniques. Beginners should consider professional instruction before attempting ice climbing independently.
