FAQ
What climbing equipment can I rent in Grenoble ?
Takamaka Grenoble offers a complete kit containing a Climbing Technology helmet, Scarpa climbing shoes, a Simond harness and a Connect Light crash pad. Shoes, harnesses, helmets and crash pads can also be hired separately to match the requirements of your session.
Which climbing shoe sizes are available to rent?
The Scarpa climbing shoes are available in sizes 35 to 46 and are listed as suitable for sport climbing and bouldering. Availability in a particular size should be checked when booking.
Is the crash pad intended for bouldering ?
Yes. The Connect Light crash pad is a landing mat designed to reduce the consequences of a fall while bouldering. It does not remove the risk of injury and should be positioned carefully, ideally with an attentive spotter.
Is climbing gear rental suitable for beginners ?
Yes, renting can be a practical option for beginners who want to try climbing before buying their own equipment. However, equipment hire does not replace proper instruction. Anyone attempting an independent outdoor climb for the first time should go with an experienced climber or qualified professional.
How do I book climbing equipment in Grenoble?
Select the kit or individual items you require, enter your rental dates and provide your personal details. A confirmation email will then explain the collection and return arrangements.
Where do I collect the rented climbing gear ?
Items can be collected from the Takamaka Grenoble shop at 1 Quai Créqui, 38000 Grenoble. We are open from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm and from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
